The WatchTime exhibition held recently in New York is another example of an event where the best timepieces are showcased for watch lovers, enthusiasts, fans, and other people to see. In fact, one of the highlights of the event is the showcasing the best timepieces in 2016- 5 of them being the most expensive watches in the world that would cost more than $1.75 million if you add them all up! All famous brands showcased their top watches for 2016. There were also a couple of watch brands making a debut in the US for the first time.

Jaquet Droz Bird Repeater Openwork Watch (Price: $472,500)
First on the list is the Jaquet Droz Bird Repeater Openwork Watch. Another addition to Jaquet Droz’s Charming Bird collection of watches, this exquisite 47mm timepiece has a set of moving automaton birds on its watch face that flutters differently every time its minute repeater chimes. Its sapphire dial and a smaller onyx subdial located at 12:00 which tells time, allows you to easily see the chiming mechanism of the hand-painted, hand-engraved 18-karat gold bird sculptures. This is a limited edition watch that retails for $472,500. Jaquet Droz has said that there will be only 8 pieces of this hand-winding mechanical watch housed in 18-karat white gold.
Breguet Tradition Minute Repeater Tourbillon Watch (Price: $460,700)
Next on the list is the Breguet Tradition Minute Repeater Tourbillon, Ref. 7087. This timepiece is what we would like to call a work of art. This 44m timepiece housed in 18-karat rose gold has a one-minute tourbillon escapement which compensates for the watch’s errors due to the effects of gravity when it sits on different positions on the wrists, as well as a chiming minute repeater and an inverted right-angle lever escapement that’s clearly visible on the dial side of the watch. The watch has 80 hours of reserve power and retails for $460,700.
MB&F Horological Machine No. 6-SV (Price: $398,000)
Retailing for $398,000, the MB&F Horological Machine No. 6-SV is not just one of the most expensive timepieces on the market today but also one of the most beautifully and masterfully crafted watches ever made. Crafted from multiple sapphire crystals and platinum, the watch features an automatic movement with 60-secon flying tourbillon. Its hours and minutes are displayed on its revolving spheres and the winding rotor is controlled by the twin turbines. Only 10 pieces of this watch will be made ever.
Vacheron Constantin Harmony Tourbillon Chronograph (Price: $240,700)
Vacheron Constantin is making their US debut with the introduction of the Harmony Tourbillon Chronograph Watch. This monopusher chronograph watch features a stunning tourbillon shaped in a Maltese cross which serves as the brand’s emblem. It has a movement that was first unveiled during the Vacheron Constantin’s celebration of its 260th anniversary. The watch movement are developed, fine-tuned and produced in-house after 7 years of research and development. It features a lot of technologically advanced features, but still remains user-friendly. The watch retails for $240,700.
A. Lange & Sohne Richard Lange Tourbillon Pour le Merite (Price: $211,700)
Last but not least is the Richard Lange Tourbillon Pour le Merite made by a German watch brand, the A. Lange & Sohne. Made from 18-karat white gold, the watch boasts a unique a unique fusée-and-chain transmission and a tourbillon with a patented stop-seconds mechanism. The watch is powered by the brand’s very own Lange Manufacture Caliber L072.1 which they developed on their own. This 351-part watch movement is adjusted precisely in five positions and its three-quarter plate is made of untreated German silver. As with other A. Lange & Sohne timepieces, the movement is assembled, tested, taken apart, cleaned, oiled and reassembled.
