Review Summary:

A top of the line ProTrek watch from Casio that comes with plenty of features and a good-looking design that should last for you a number of years.

It’s unusual for an outdoor watch to be lightweight and that is what best describes the Casio PRW-6000Y-1ACR ProTrek Watch. It is a lightweight, carbon fiber watch made for the outdoors. It features triple sensors, countdown timer, and a stopwatch among others. The Casio PRW-6000Y-1ACR ProTrek Watch also sports a design that makes it an ideal daily watch.

The Casio PRW-6000Y-1ACR ProTrek is analog-digital watch. The display features 2 LED lights to assure its visibility and readability even in low-light environments. With the inserted carbon fiber on the band, the watch comes in at just 73g making it incredibly lightweight. It’s a good relief that the watch is lightweight despite of its size. You will have to wear the Casio PRW-6000Y-1ACR ProTrek for a period of time before you can get used to its size.

The triple sensor found inside the watch includes a compass, an altimeter / barometer and a thermometer. The sensors are not the most accurate out there but they can at least provide good estimated data. The sensors suffer from inconsistency throughout my testing. I found the thermometer to be quite unreliable once you wear the watch because of the heat from your hand. The altimeter or barometer can still be useful especially in determining your current altitude but you can’t expect it to be useful in more professional tasks. The only sensor that I found to be accurate and reliable was the compass.

There are also dedicated buttons for the main features. This helps in making the configuration easier and faster. Also, the crown is very easy to use. I also end up liking the band with carbon fiber insertion as it fits really well on my wrist regardless of the situation or environment. The band sits comfortably on my wrist even underwater.
