Review Summary:

One thing is sure about the first time you lay your eyes on a Fitbit Blaze, it looks like an Apple Watch. If you are thinking that it’s a smartwatch just because it does look like an Apple Watch, you are completely mistaken.

The design of the Fitbit Blaze is somewhat lacking. It has two-piece design approach which consists of a body and the band. The body is where the heart rate sensor and the touchscreen display lies which is then popped into a frame on the band. There’s nothing outstanding about this kind of design approach. In fact, most users have complained about the inconvenience of this approach. You have to pop the body out of the frame so you can charge it and popped it back again on the band so you can wear it. This is kind of troublesome for most people since they want for things to be quick. So popping the tracker back and forth is a really bad design idea. The Fitbit Blaze is not ugly but it’s not elegant as well. Fitbit is known for its straightforward fitness trackers but the Blaze definitely needs some work on the fashion side of things.

The Fitbit Blaze may not be known for its looks but it is in its functionalities that it truly excels. The Blaze is a good example of how the company delivers an extremely accurate fitness tracking device. Like all other fitness trackers, the Blaze can track your activities like walking and sleeping accurately without any inconvenience. But that is not what the Blaze is all about. The company took some of the best features of their more high-end fitness trackers and strapped them into Blaze. Swiping around the Blaze’s touchscreen can give you access to different functionalities, options and menus. The automatic exercise recognition is there, the continuous heart rate monitoring is there as well, you can also get notifications from your smartphones calls and texts but you can’t interact with them on the Blaze. Lastly, you gain access to the Fitbit app which is by far the best activity tracking app around.

Product Features:

  • Continuous heart-rate monitoring.
  • Receives notifications from your smartphone.
  • Fitbit’s Connected GPS.
  • On-screen guided workouts.
  • OLED touchscreen display.

Pros:

  • Great all-around fitness tracker.
  • Great app especially for new users.
  • Impressive battery life.
  • Large, clear display.

Cons:

  • No GPS.
  • The design is not elegant.
  • Inconvenient pop-out design.
  • No water-resistance.

Conclusion:

It may not be the best looking fitness tracker out there but the Fitness Blaze promises a lot of functionalities without any fuss. It’s just a shame that the company never put much though into its design because if they have done so, the Blaze could be the best fitness tracker that you’ll ever find today.

One thing is sure about the first time you lay your eyes on a Fitbit Blaze, it looks like an Apple Watch. If you are thinking that it’s a smartwatch just because it does look like an Apple Watch, you are completely mistaken.
