The Fossil Q Founder is an Android Wear watch produced by the Fossil Group, a company that’s been known for its line of luxury watches.
It’s not hard to appreciate the look of the Q Founder. It’s right up there with the Moto 360 and the Huawei Watch if you talk about its design. Even though this is the company’s first smartwatch, Fossil has done an excellent job with its look. It sits comfortably on the wrist despite of it being big. It has a 46 mm diameter and a big 1.5 inch display. That 1.5 inch display translate to a 240 ppi resolution display which is quite good. Texts are easy to read, the colors are crisp and the viewing angles are excellent.
The Q Founder doesn’t miss out on the specs as well. Inside is a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB or RAM and a 400-mAH battery to power the device. The Intel Atom processor makes up for a fast navigation through the Android Wear interface. Launching apps and jumping from one task to another is also fast. The battery should be able to last for a day. But there is one issue about it though. It doesn’t charge completely on its charging dock, it stops between 96 and 99 percent only which could affect its battery life. It also packs quite a lot of sensors although there is no heart rate sensor available.

- Its design is excellent.
- Affordable premium smartwatch.
- The 1 GB of RAM is twice more than most other smartwatches out there.
- The battery won’t reach 100% charge sometimes.
- Battery life is beyond average.
- Android Wear needs improvement.
The company’s first ever smartwatch, the Q Founder still lacks a couple of important things like a sleep and heart rate monitor would be a nice addition. But if you put aside its imperfections, you are looking at a beautiful smartwatch with good performance at an affordable price. It’s a good value for the money. For $275, you are investing on a smartwatch with future-proofing ability thanks to the 1GB of RAM. Doubling the size of the RAM means you won’t have a problem when a new Android Wear software update comes.
