Review Summary:

The Motorola Moto 360 was once called as the best smartwatch when it was released back in 2014. In fact, it’s the most reviewed smartwatch before the Apple Watch collection came out. It’s distinctive, futuristic circular display is what make it the most popular wearable piece of tech of 2014. Well, you definitely can’t argue about it because even now the Motorola Moto 360 still looks unique and beautiful.

The Motorola Moto 360 can still make a good run for your money in 2016 especially that its price has lowered significantly. With now less than a $100 dollar price tag, the Moto 360 can still give you everything that you need from a smartwatch even if it’s considered to be already old. Well, it didn’t received a ton of attention just because of its design. It also earned a lot of hype because of its functionalities and interface. The Android Wear interface just looks awesome when seen on a circular display as compared to a square display.

The Motorola Moto 360 really looks out of this world on the outside but on the inside is where you start to find imperfections with it. It’s sad to say but the Moto 360 also suffers from poor battery life just like other smartwatches. You wouldn’t expect this from the Moto 360 since it is big and you expect it to have a bigger battery life. The display is also not that good. It does have good sunlight legibility but the thing is, it is very prone to smudge. The IPS screen may look bright but it doesn’t have the vibrancy that OLED screens bring. The Android Wear might look good on a circular display especially on the Moto 360 but it still lacks a ton of things before you can make a good companion out of it for your smartphone.

But what makes the Motorola Moto 360 different from other smartwatches released in the same year with it, are perhaps the much improved heart rate sensor and the noise-cancelling built-in microphone technology. There’s also the wireless charging too. Just place the watch on the charging dock and it still start charging immediately. The Motor 360 can recognize your voice very well if you are to do some voice commands even when you are in a crowded place.

Product Features:

  • Big, circular screen with Gorilla Glass 3.
  • Qi wireless charging
  • Stainless steel case
  • IP67 rating
  • Dual-microphone setup for voice commands
  • Built-in optical heart rate monitor and pedometer
  • Bluetooth 4.0 LE
  • Ambient light sensor.

Pros:

  • Jaw-dropping futuristic design.
  • Features premium materials.
  • Very lightweight and comfortable on the wrist.
  • Price significantly lower now than it was in 2014.

Cons:

  • Bad battery life.
  • Android Wear needs to improve.
  • The display is exactly not good.

Summary:

The Motorola Moto 360 is a good looking smartwatch that unfortunately suffers from bad battery life and limited Android Wear functionalities. But still kudos, to the Motorola for producing a first generation smartwatch that looks really good and for setting the standards on how a smartwatch should look.
