The Ressence TYPE 1² “Squared”

The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie kicked off with flying colors in Geneva. Much like the crush of concept car shows that dominate Vegas or Milan with a lineup of stunners for car enthusiasts, SIHH whips watch aficionados into just the same sort of wide-eyed reverie.

Here some of the most incredible timepieces are unboxed for the world to see.

Fast forward to the Ressence TYPE 1² “Squared.” Here is a luxury timepiece dripping in elegance and painstaking detail. Sweetly rendered brushed stainless steel couples sublimely with a cushioned case.

The orbiting time-telling system implements a series of rotating spheres (6 in total) to display the time.

Ressence has reimagined the TYPE 1² “Squared” in manifold ways. But don’t be fooled the bezel is actually a curved square. And adhering to precision and dynamic performance is top of the list. The self-winding 2824/2 Base calibre ROCS1 movement is a class of its own.

As for size and substance, the TYPE 1² “Squared” clocks in at 41mm. The case is svelte and thin, largely because there is no sapphire crystal back case to speak of. There is however a retractable lever that corresponds to the setting of the time.

This brushed stainless steel timepiece, a departure from its earlier titanium incarnations, has luminous markers and comes in a variety of color palettes matched nicely with a leather band. This is a finely dressed watch worthy of an exquisite night out on the town. It retails for $16,000.
