From the founders of Ferro Watches comes a new Swiss watch brand named Bovarro. The first timepiece to come out of this brand is inspired by the Apollo 11 lunar mission conducted in 1969. There are 3 models in the Bovarro collection – the Lunar, the Orbit and the Celestial series.
Look and Design : If the Bovarro creators goal was to create a bezel that pays perfect tribute to Apollo 11, they absolutely nailed it. The bezel looks similar to the Apollo 11 hatch and the crown resembles the knob on the right side of the hatch. The watches come in either a 42mm case or a whopping 46mm case in 316L stainless steel. If you really want to make a statement, an 18K solid gold case is available as well. The first 500 pieces will come with engraved unique serial numbers on the case back.
Straps : Buyers will have the option of choosing an Italian leather strap in either black or brown.
Movement : The Bovarro watch uses the ETA 2524-2 movement which is an automatic winding, 25 jewel movement. This is a workhorse movement used by other major brand such as Hamilton and Tissot. It features a sweeping second hand, date and corrector.
Unique Features : As a fan of oversized watches, I appreciate that this watch comes in a larger 46mm case. The brushed steel case gives it a vintage feel reminiscent of the moon landing and paired with a brown strap, it really has a unique feel to it.
Bottom Line : If you’re a fan of the cosmos and a watch with a big dial this is the one for you.
Pros
Beautiful aesthetics. Multiple sizes and dial options. Unique look and feel at a reasonable price point. Comes with a cool watch box.
Cons
Limited complications - just a date window.
Unique watch that pays homage to Apollo 11. Nice price point for a 42-46mm watch with a decent movement.
