Today, The Watch Gallery announced the launch of a new online store for luxury preowned watches. Initially the range will consist of around 150 watches, supported by an expert team to source and authenticate each watch before they are sold online.
Watches can be shipped internationally with some restrictions are in place, or they can be collected in store via a click-and-collect option.
A spokesperson for The Watch Gallery told Gracious Watch:
“Every watch is first authenticated by our in house experts using microscopic testing. We then clean and refurbish the watch, and check elements such as the timing and water-resistance.
All of our pre-owned watches come with a 2 year warranty and are securely packed in official brand presentation boxes”
The new online preowned collection currently stocks mainly Rolex product with the iconic Submariner and Daytona, as well as also carrying other ranges such as the Datejust and the GMT Master. In addition, classic pieces from Cartier and Panerai have also been introduced to the collection – the Ballon Bleu and Radiomir .
The standout collection includes a 1989 steel and gold Submariner with a contrast blue dial, retailing at £6,300.
Another highlight comes in the form of a gold Cosmograph Daytona built in 2000, with a striking black dial. Retailing at £18,500, this collectible piece is in real industry demand and a pre-owned purchase can often be the only route to purchase.
Within the ladies collection, the Cartier Santos Galbee is again another standout piece, in addition to various Rolex Lady Datejusts. The pre-owned section of The Watch Gallery is geared to increase in the upcoming months with new lines added and a wider net cast into the second-hand buying market.
The draw of a pre-owned watch stems from the accessibility – a brand new Rolex is considered aspirational in the tallest sense of the word and as such, not everyone can partake. However, although not fresh from the manufacturer, the pre-owned route opens up luxury Swiss watches as a realistic option for many.
